JULY 4, 2021, ACTIVITIES PLANNED IN BEL AIR
Bel Air Independence Day Committee Plans Return of Parade
The Bel Air Independence Day Committee, Inc., the independent all-volunteer entity that manages the July 4 festivities in the Town of Bel Air, Maryland, announces that it is planning to hold the traditional festivities in Bel Air on July 4, 2021, including the Independence Day parade at 6 pm on Sunday, July 4, 2021, and the fireworks display at about 9:30 pm later that same evening, pending its ability to meet public health guidelines.
Committee President Don Stewart states, "We had to cancel all July 4 activities for 2020 to protect our community, so we are pleased and hopeful that we can ‘return to normal celebrations’ this year, and we are currently working towards that, in consultation with town, county and state officials."
"Vaccination percentages are growing and civic activities are recovering from their cessation during the COVID-19 pandemic, so we feel that we can now move forward with the necessary planning and organization process to hold the traditional parade down Main Street," states Parade Chairman and Committee Vice-President Michael Blum. "Of course, we are implementing health safety measures both in the staging and the parade deployment," Blum adds.
"We will most likely need more Parade Marshals than ever before," Blum says, “so we are reaching out to the greater Bel Air community for help. Anyone interested in being a Parade Marshal should go to our VOLUNTEER page and fill out the volunteer form."
How to Join the 2021 Parade!
Hello, and welcome to complete coverage of the Bel Air July 4 Parade — and especially how you can apply to be a part of it.
Our next parade is Sunday evening, July 4, 2021, beginning at 6:00 pm. Our theme for 2021 is Honoring Our Healthcare Heroes.
The Bel Air Independence Day Committee has a vision of how our parade should look and feel. Participants in our parade are required to present themselves in a manner that is consistent with this vision.
First and foremost, we encourage all parade applicants to consider in advance how to "decorate" or craft their entry to conform not only to the general theme of an Independence Day Parade, but to the specific patriotic theme we choose each year for our parade. In the past, many floats and other units have done a fantastic job of illustrating or embodying our themes — therefore we hope that parade applicants will find ways to illustrate this year's theme in what they plan to do.
Any parade applicant and most especially all parade participants (whose applications have been accepted), are cordially invited to ask any member of the Bel Air Independence Day Committee for ideas or suggestions about this. We love creativity and we applaud those who exercise it!
How to Apply
Your first step in applying to be a part of our parade is to read the complete Parade Rules, which you will find by selecting this link, which will open up in a new window. After reading the rules, you will have the option of returning to this page or proceeding directly to the application form.
We now require ON-LINE APPLICATION FORMS — these are necessary for our database and to make sure we respond appropriately and quickly. Please select this link to open the Application Form.
If you cannot use the On-Line Application Form, or if you have any questions about it, please tell us by using the July 4 Contact Form on this page, or by sending us an e-mail, or by calling 410-879-4245, and we will help you.
Remember — your application will most likely require a fee, according to the Parade Rules. When you send the form successfully, you will be redirected to a page to pay your fee, using PayPal or any major credit card. The committee encourages you to use this feature rather than having to mail in the fee. Remember — your application will not be processed until we receive it. The complete parade rules explain these fees (and how they work) in full.
Did You Forget to Pay Your Application Fee?
All is not lost — go to the Parade Fee Page and take care of it RIGHT AWAY! Remember — your application will not be processed until we receive your fee.
Thanks in advance for your cooperation, and we look forward to receiving your application for the Bel Air Independence Day Parade!
